SACR Welcomes Lawrence Pingree as Data Security and AI Research Leader
SACR is thrilled to share an important update as we continue to grow our research leadership. Lawrence Pingree has joined Software Analyst Cyber Research (SACR) as our Head of Data and AI Security, bringing a depth of experience that strengthens one of our most important focus areas.
Over the past year, SACR’s work has increasingly centered on the convergence of data, identity, and AI. This shift is reshaping how modern defense systems are designed, how security teams operate, and how organizations plan for the future. It has become a core pillar of our research agenda. Lawrence’s arrival reflects our commitment to leading this space with analysis that is both technically grounded and genuinely useful to practitioners.
Lawrence spent more than a decade at Gartner, where he worked across global teams studying how emerging technologies influence security strategy. During that time, he authored over 300 research notes spanning Security as a Service, SD-WAN, EDR, Cloud Workload Protection, Cloud Incident Response Automation, and Generative AI Runtime Defense. His work has contributed to the industry’s understanding of frameworks such as SASE and continues to influence how organizations think about secure, data-driven architecture.
At SACR, Lawrence will lead our Data and AI Agentic Security vertical. His focus will be on advancing research that helps security leaders navigate the rapid changes happening in data protection, identity systems, and AI-driven automation. This work is central to SACR’s mission of bringing clarity and insight to one of the most transformative areas in cybersecurity.
Lawrence shared a perspective that aligns closely with our values:
“My work has been about helping organizations cut through cybersecurity complexity. By providing strategic foresight and actionable intelligence, I’ve helped clients navigate evolving threats while aligning technology for sustainable growth.”
His addition marks an important step in SACR’s evolution as a research institution. As Data and AI Security becomes one of the defining frontiers in cybersecurity, we are strengthening our ability to help leaders understand and prepare for what comes next. With Lawrence’s expertise and leadership, SACR is better positioned to shape the conversations, frameworks, and research that will guide this next chapter for the industry.
Welcome to SACR, Lawrence.
We look forward to the impact we will create together.
